A Dunedin man has been jailed for embarking on a crime spree that included pretending to be a policeman.
Derek John Taylor, 32, was sentenced to 28 months in prison after admitting 13 charges in the Nelson District Court.
Judge Paul Whitehead said Taylor's offending was a "bizarre Bonnie and Clyde-like journey" that began in Christchurch and ended in Nelson a few days later.
His offences included impersonating a police officer, possessing class B and class C drugs, and several theft charges totalling more than $2500.
Judge Whitehead said Taylor forced a stranger out of a parked car, told him he was an undercover police officer and body-searched him.
