The gap between Labour and National has narrowed by four points in the past month, according to a poll in the National Business Review yesterday.
Support for Labour dipped by two percentage points to 42 per cent since a poll a month ago. Support for National increased by two points to
33 per cent.
It was National's biggest gain in the poll since February.
The poll was taken over five days, during which Michelle Boag was appointed National Party president.
Among the minor parties, the Greens were the biggest losers, dropping more than two percentage points, from 8.2 per cent to 6 per cent.
Support for coalition partner the Alliance increased slightly from 4.6 per cent to 5.3 per cent. Act recorded an almost identical result, up from 4.5 per cent to 5.2 per cent. New Zealand First remained at 2.9 per cent.
A TVNZ/Colmar Brunton poll, published this week, showed support for Labour was static at 48 per cent, and National was up one to 35 per cent. Act was up two to 5 per cent, the Greens down three points to 4 per cent, the Alliance was static on 3 per cent and NZ First was down one to 2 per cent.
