A Taupo primary school cleaner deliberately abused his position of trust and sexually abused three young boys, the High Court at Rotorua was told on Friday.
David Locke, 53, previously found guilty of sexual violation, unlawful sexual connection, indecent assault and trying to pervert course of justice, was jailed for four years.
Justice Morris said Locke's offending was not fleeting and opportunistic but instead he had displayed predatory actions.
Locke took advantage of his proximity to the children who were innocent and vulnerable.
Justice Potter said on August 18 Locke was cleaning the school toilets when three boys entered.. He dismissed two of them and invited the remaining 10-year-old boy to help him clean the toilets.
Locke then indecently assaulted and sexually violated the boy.
The following day Locke indecently assaulted a 13-year-old while he helped clean the toilets.
Shortly after Locke offered two boys, aged 13 and 10, a ride in his van on the school grounds. He indecently assaulted them as they steered the van.
The boys reported the incidents to their school principal the next day.
Justice Potter said Locke saw one of the boys walking to school and threatened him not to tell.
Defence lawyer Ian Farquhar said Locke led a productive life and was well thought of by his employer and acquaintances.
