TVNZ news was the big winner at the Qantas broadcasting awards announced last nightin Auckland.
Under fire from its own chairman last week over fairness and standards, One News was named news programme of the year, with its Tonight show the runner-up. 3 News, which dominated last year, was not in the hunt.
Richard Long and Judy Bailey were presenters of the year for One News, and 60 Minutes won the award for best current affairs programme.
TV3 had a major success, with Amanda Millar crowned television reporter of the year.
Radio New Zealand took the vast majority of radio awards, with Morning Report rated best news programme and Hewitt Humphrey best newsreader.
