Christchurch police were kept on their toes overnight with a series of violent incidents in the city.
The most serious was a man being stabbed after a fight at a party early this morning.
Police were called to the party just after midnight, where the man was injured after "an altercation", Inspector Warren Kemp of the police Southern Communications Centre said.
"Inquiries are continuing today to see what occurred at that party," he said.
No further details were available this morning.
In another incident, police were today still searching for a man who held up a Shell service station in central Christchurch.
Mr Kemp said a man armed with a knife entered the Shell Moorhouse Avenue station and threatened the attendant before making off with "an amount" of cash.
The attendant was not injured in the robbery.
