One person has died and a child has been critically injured after two cars collided head-on in the Auckland suburb of Henderson.
The crash happened about 10.50pm yesterday.
Another two people were seriously injured in the smash and taken to Auckland City Hospital. The child was taken to Starship Hospital.
Auckland Metro Police Inspector Duncan Hall said one person died at the scene.
"Indications are at this stage that speed was a factor in this crash," Inspector Hall said.
"The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions. Indications are that one of those vehicles was on the wrong side of the road."
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
An Auckland District Health Board spokeswoman said this morning the injured people were all in a stable condition.
