Jacinda Ardern is keeping quiet on what she bought for her Secret Santa, but is not shy about what she would like in return - a bottle of sleep and relaxation.
The Prime Minister joined the NZ Twitter Secret Santa in late November, causing the site to be inundated by registrations on the prospect of receiving or gifting something to Ardern. There are 3623 participants this year.
Ardern said she had purchased her gifts last night and will make sure she couriers them before the Thursday deadline - but would not say what she bought.
"I don't know whether or not that takes the secret out of Secret Santa. I won't be disclosing to the individual that it's come from me, though they might pick a hint. I'm not sure.
"I've already in the past divulged my love of Christmas. If New Zealand, which is known for many things, is also known for its love of gift giving to strangers, that can only be a good thing."
