An elderly Wellington man, who went missing yesterday afternoon, has been found safe and well at a residential property.
The man, 66-year-old Graeme Penny was found in west Johnsonville this evening, as a result of information received by police from a member of the public, police said in a statement.
Penny left his Johnsonville rest home about 4.30pm on Thursday.
Police said earlier today that they were become "increasingly" concerned for his wellbeing as the weather in Wellington was deteriorating.
The search team were very grateful for the support and assistance provided by the Johnsonville community during the search, police said.
Police earlier asked Johnsonville residents to check any outdoor buildings on their property, in case Penny has sought shelter and requested those in the area to keep an eye out for him and thanked members of the public who had contacted them today about possible sightings of Penny.
