Car shot by police during stand-off with Rollie Heke now for sale

A car riddled with bullet holes and damaged in a pursuit by police before they were shot at by fugitive Rollie James Heke is up for auction.

Listed at between $9500 and $10,500, the 2015 Holden Commodore sedan is estimated to go for as little as a third of the price at Turners Auctions in Hamilton.

The car for auction shows the bullet holes in the windscreen.

Photographs of the red Commodore, with the same number plate as the car Heke allegedly used to evade police before a shootout near Morrinsville on August 13, show various bullet holes in the windscreen and damage to panels and tyres.

The auction site recommends bidders view the car before buying because it could require extra work to be roadworthy.

Heke evaded police for two weeks before being arrested on August 25 at a home in the Kaingaroa Forest township, southeast of Rotorua.

He pleaded not guilty to three charges of murder after allegedly shooting at police with a military-style semi-automatic weapon.

Earlier this month the 36-year-old was sentenced to five years and five months jail, for importing meth from prison.

Heke had previously pleaded guilty to one charge of importing methamphetamine, and one of conspiracy to import methamphetamine.

The car is not registered and is being sold in a damaged vehicle auction.

A police spokeswoman said the vehicle involved in an incident near Morrinsville on August 13 was returned to the registered owner following police forensic examinations.

"What happens to the vehicle after that is a matter for the registered owner."
