Three members of the Head Hunters gang in Auckland have been arrested in relation to what police say was a violent kidnapping and assault.
Waitemata Police said tonight the male victim was in his car yesterday afternoon when he was set upon and kidnapped by three men.
He was then assaulted and taken to an ATM money machine where he was forced to hand over an undisclosed amount of cash.
The victim was also threatened with a gun, but he managed to get away and get the attention of a member of the public, who called police.
Officers managed to track down a car the three men had allegedly used in the kidnapping and arrested and charged all three.
Police said the victim was traumatised by the incident and was now being supported by Police and Victim Support services.
"Police are absolutely disgusted by this crime.
"An innocent member of the public was going about his business only to be violently attacked by these men. We hope that these arrests will offer the victim some degree of reassurance.''
The three offenders are due to appear in the North Shore District Court, charged with kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
