Police search for gang member after West Auckland meth bust

Police are looking for Justin Martin Unwin, 44, of the West Chapter of the Head Hunters motorcycle gang.

Police are searching for a patched member of the Head Hunters motorcycle gang following raids in West Auckland this morning.

Members of the National Organised Crime Group and the Armed Offenders Squad searched two properties in Glendene and Glendowie at about 5.30am.

Detective Senior Sergeant Lloyd Schmid says police found about half a kilogram of methamphetamine, an estimated $50,000, a handgun, as well as chemicals and equipment used to manufacture meth.

Police are now looking for Justin Martin Unwin, 44, who is a patched member of the West Chapter of the Head Hunters motorcycle gang.

The Northern Clan Lab Unit is still at one of the addresses.

A police spokesperson said the AOS squad was involved but left about 9.30am.
