It's getting more than predictable: another wet Thursday is rolling around for the third consecutive week.
The South Island is struggling to mop up from last week's record floods and more bad weather is bearing down in two day's time. But next week promises little respite from the Thursday curse.
This week's big wet will hit the coastlines of both islands, including areas worst affected in last week's devastating torrential downpour, but the North Island may be in for yet another sub-tropical soaking next Thursday, according to weatherwatch.co.nz.
This week, bursts of heavy rain were expected in both islands but forecaster Philip Duncan said it was unlikely to warrant rain warnings in areas still recovering from the floods.
But should the rain set in on top of the saturated ground, it could pose more heartache for homeowners and a headache for authorities fresh from dealing with civil emergencies.
