Two people have been airlifted to Hawke's Bay Hospital following a jet boat accident on the Ngaruroro River this afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said police were notified at about 3:30pm that a jet boat had been overturned near Whanawhana Rd.
The Rescue Coordination Centre responded but was stood down shortly after the occupants were located.
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter also attended due to the remote location after the boat's personal locator beacon was activated due.
A rescue helicopter spokesperson said a group of jet boats was located on the river bed and one of the boats had flipped in shallow water injuring two male occupants.
