One person has suffered burns to their hands during a fire at a commercial building in Te Awamutu this afternoon.
Emergency services responded to the multiple car fire inside the commercial building in the Waikato town about 3.15pm.
Fire Northern Communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said multiple cars were on fire inside Waipa Towing on Harrison Dr.
Three fire appliances from Te Awamutu attended the call out and another two fire engines from Hamilton were earlier en route.
Phillips said the person had suffered burns to their hands after putting them on a hot gate at the site. They were being treated by ambulance staff and police were also there.
Meanwhile Te Kuiti Volunteer Fire Brigade was just arriving at a house fire in Ellison Ave in the small King Country town. No other details were available yet.
Three Hamilton fire appliances were en route to a smoke-logged factory, Door Solutions in Sunshine Ave in the city's industrial hub at Te Rapa at 4.45pm.
And earlier in the day the city's firefighters responded to a portaloo fire at Frankton Rugby Club grounds on Massey St in Dinsdale.
