A man in his 50s who went out for a motorbike ride on Monday morning has failed to return.
Timothy John Watkins, 58, was last seen on Monday when he told a family member he was going for a ride on his motorbike, police said last night.
He has yet to return.
No family or friends have reported seeing or hearing from him since, Senior Sergeant Ian Brenchley of Counties Manukau police said.
Watkins rides a grey 2015 Triumph Thunderbird Storm (ABS) registration A9ZDH.
He is described as being approximately 178cm tall, and it is believe he may be in the Clarks Beach area.
His family is said to be concerned for his safety, and are asking for anyone who has seen him to come forward.
Watkins was a top Alcohol car racer and record holder. He set the fastest time in 2007 for the division in his Dodge Avenger Top Alcohol funny car with a 5.8-second pass at over 372km/h. He recorded two other 5-second passes on the day and won the Top Alcohol bracket.
Anyone who has spotted Watkins, or his motorbike, is asked to call Maukau police station on 09 261 1300.
