Police name man killed in Canterbury quad bike crash

Police have named a 46-year-old man who was killed on Friday in a quad bike crash in rural Canterbury.

He was Paul Stephen Dee, a father of two, from Waimate.

The crash happened at the intersection of Hakataramea Highway and Shearers Hill Rd, near Waimate, shortly before midnight on April 28, police said.

An obituary for Dee in the Timaru Herald said his "beloved family lost him forever on Friday".

Dee was the "loving husband of Julie and devoted dad to Connor, 7, and Erin, 5".

In a statement police extended their sympathies to Dee's family and friends.

The Serious Crash Unit investigation is continuing.
