A man is facing a number of charges after a possible kidnapping in Hamilton overnight.
Waikato Senior Sergeant Pete van de Wetering said a man had been arrested after crashing and flipping his vehicle in front of police officers.
Van de Wetering said a woman in the suburb of Melville called police at 1.45am saying a man had breached a protection order.
When officers arrived they noticed a vehicle driving erratically from the scene, and followed it. It crashed a short distance later.
"It appears the woman was in the car under duress. She's now in hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be serious. [A] man is under arrest."
It's unclear exactly what charges the man will face, however it was clear he would "face quite a few", police said.
Van de Wetering applauded the actions of the officers who followed the suspicious vehicle.
