Driver badly hurt after car hits 'gas installation'

A driver has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after they crashed into a "gas installation" near Pukekohe.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Harrisville Rd between the junctions of Geraghty Maber Rd and Pook Rd, just north of town of Tuakau, about 6.39pm.

"Police at the scene have described the crash as a car hitting a gas installation," a police spokesman said.

He said one patient, who had suffered serious injuries, was taken to Middlemore Hospital.
