A house has suffered serious fire damage after a car crashed into a paddock this morning.
The fire on Wairau Bar Road, northeast of Blenheim, has been extinguished and no injuries have been reported.
However, a Fire Service spokesman told the Herald the property "has sustained quite serious damage."
Seven fire crews were called to the scene just after 9am.
A resident on the long road which leads down to the bar also says a raft of emergency service vehicles are at the scene and the road has been closed.
"I thought it was a scrub fire but did wonder, basically I've seen six fire trucks, one helicopter, two police cars and one ambulance, so I figured it was something big," Jillian Anderson said.
"They're turning away fisherman, because it's a bar guys go down there fishing. They're turning them back and closed the road off."
