Thieves have targeted veterinary supplies in an early morning ram raid in Wairarapa today.

At 3.25am, police were called out to a vet supply warehouse in High St, Carterton, following reports of a break-in.

A police spokesperson said one of two vehicles involved in the ram raid had been stolen earlier in the weekend.

"At this stage it's still being established what was taken."

Two hours later, Wairarapa police were involved in a separate pursuit through Masterton after police attempted to pull a vehicle over at a routine traffic stop, Fairfax reported.

The vehicle fled, leading to a short pursuit that ended when the car drove into the Waipoua River bank.

The occupants fled the scene and were still being sought.
