Firefighters are working to free someone from a crashed car in New Plymouth.

The two-car crash, which happened before 5pm, was at 26 Tarahua Rd in Vogeltown.

A Fire Service shift manager was unsure how the crash happened, but said crews were on the scene now.

"One person trapped, we're getting to work getting them out," he said.

A police spokeswoman said there did not appear to be anyone seriously hurt in the crash.
