Two people have been hurt by animals in two separate incidents in Northland this afternoon.
St John attended the incidents within just 10 minutes of each other.
In the first incident, a horse fell on top of a person in Kaitaia just after 2pm.
A St John spokeswoman said the patient was taken to Kaitaia Hospital with moderate injuries.
Just minutes later St John ambulance responded to an animal attack on Waiotemarama Gorge Rd in Opononi, in which a woman was kicked by a horse.
A police spokeswoman said the woman was kicked in the neck and chest, causing serious injuries.
The woman was choppered to Whangarei Base Hospital with what was later deemed to be moderate injuries.
