Firefighters are battling a blaze at a scrap metal yard in Silverdale, north of Auckland, this morning.
Northern fire communications shift manager Scott Osmond said they were called to the Tin Men yard, on Tavern Road, shortly before 8.30am.
Three fire crews were at the scene, initially. However, only two remained there just before 9am.
A large pile of scrap metal was on fire, Osmond said.
The blaze was under control and there was no danger to any neighbouring properties, he said.
