Commuters are facing an arduous Friday night drive home after a crash on Auckland's Harbour Bridge this afternoon.

The crash about 4pm, shortly before rush hour, blocked the left northbound lane.

"Expect delays and take extra care," the New Zealand Transport Agency said on Twitter.

The crash has since been cleared but motorists were being warned to expect "long delays" heading north.

NZTA is also warning Aucklanders to prepare for delays due to two events tonight.

There will be possible delays near Vector Arena, where singer-songwriter Ben Harper is playing from 7.30pm.

The agency said there would also be delays around Kumeu, due to the Santa Parade closing State Highway 16 between Riverhead Rd  Matua Rd from 4pm until 8.30pm.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
