An Auckland woman was dragged, gagged and beaten during a violent home invasion.

Police are still hunting those responsible after two men forced their way into the Manurewa woman's home late on November 11 and demanded cash and jewellery.

The woman, who did not want to be named, told Fairfax she was home alone when she heard a knock at the door about 9.30pm.

Thinking it was her neighbour, who regularly visits, she opened the door to be faced with two men.

"The bigger one pushed his way in and a second one behind him came in and closed the door.

"They were pushing me, hitting me on my head, asking me, 'give me the money, give me the jewels'." At one point, she was knocked over and dragged a small distance. All the while she was being hit and kicked in the head.

She said the larger offender then grabbed a "dagger-like knife" from his sock and held it to her throat.

"He said if I made any noise or screamed 'you know what we can do'." She said she began to pass out while they tied her up and gagged her.

A week after the ordeal, she was still suffering headaches and loss of vision. She said it was hard to move the left side of her body.

She spoke out to warn others to be vigilant with strangers knocking on front doors.

Head of Manurewa CIB, Detective Senior Sergeant Shaun Vickers said police could only describe the offenders as two males.

Police do not know how they arrived and left the area, he said.

He urged anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Dr Pickering Avenue area at the time to contact police immediately.
