Police are hunting a convicted child sex-offender in Christchurch.

Brad Bowers, 28, who has convictions for sexually grooming a young teenage girl in 2007 and performing indecent acts on her, is in Christchurch, police believe.

They have issued a warrant for his arrest and say he is "actively avoiding arrest".

Bowers is described as a male European, 169cm tall, and of solid build.

After his 2007 conviction, he was jailed for breaching parole conditions by associating with a church youth group and high school students.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Christchurch Police on 03 363 7400. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
