A man with a life-threatening head injury discharged himself from Middlemore Hospital this morning, and police have concerns for his safety.

Leni Namono, 48, was admitted to hospital last night due to a head injury which caused bleeding to his brain.

Medical staff and police are concerned that his injury may be life-threatening if he doesn't receive medical attention.

Police searching for Namono are seeking the public's help.

He is described as Pacific Islander of solid build.

Anyone who sees Namono should call 111 immediately.

It is believed he may have been at an address on Moa Street in Otahuhu last night before he arrived at the hospital.

Police ask anyone with information on Namono's whereabouts to please call police or report anonymously on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
