Man wanted in connection to Wellington burglaries caught by police

A man wanted in relation to a number of burglaries and car thefts in the Wellington region has been arrested.

Police last Friday put out an appeal for information on the whereabouts of 37-year-old Matthew Taylor.

He was arrested in the Wellington suburb of Khandallah early this afternoon, police.

The arrest came after reports of suspicious activity in the Khandallah area this morning.

Police thanked local residents and members of the public who provided information.

Detective Sergeant Haley Ryan said it was an excellent example of the public and police working in partnership together for a safer community.

A 37-year-old man is facing theft and burglary charges and will appear in Wellington District Court tomorrow.
