Emergency crews are at a large house fire in Castor Bay, on Auckland's North Shore, tonight.

Firefighters were called to Beach Road shortly after 7.30pm following reports of a blaze.

Northern fire communications spokesman Jaron Phillips said they had four trucks at the scene.

The house was derelict, he said, and no injuries had been reported.

Phillips said the house was "well involved" and firefighters were working on protecting a neighbouring property, after reports the fire was endangering it.

"But we don't believe there's any danger to homes," he said.
