Police name man killed in crash

Hawke's Bay Police have released the name of the man killed in a crash east of Onga Onga yesterday morning.

He was 41-year-old Dustin Kirk Sigvertsen, from Waipukurau.

It was a two-car collision at the intersections of Onga Onga Road and Plantation Road, Waipawa, at around 8am yesterday.

Police said a northbound Ford Telstar travelling on Plantation Road collided with an eastbound Nissan Navara ute on Onga Onga Road at the intersection.

Mr Sigvertsen was the sole occupant of the Ford Telstar, and died at the scene.

A second person was taken to Hastings Hospital by ambulance with serious abdominal injuries.

The Police Serious Crash Unit are investigating the cause of the crash, and are seeking for any witnesses to the crash or anyone who may have seen the silver coloured Ford Telstar sedan heading north from Waipukurau prior to 8am.
