Police in Wellington are hunting a man who made "inappropriate gestures" to a girl who was out walking her dog this week.
Authorities said the child -- whose age has not been released -- was walking along Fitzroy Street, in Wadestown, at about 5pm on Tuesday when the incident occurred.
A white car has driven past the girl, before making a U-turn and parking alongside where she was walking.
"The male driver has got out of his car, stood next to the vehicle and made inappropriate gestures and comments to the girl," police said.
"She has continued walking until she came across a woman who was able to help her."
Police said the driver was aged between 25 to 35.
He is caucasian with short black hair and is average build.
He was wearing a dark coloured long-sleeved shirt and dark pants.
Anyone with information about the man or the incident is asked to contact police. Authorities would also like to speak to the woman who helped the girl following the incident.
