Nelson police are on the lookout for a man in a white van acting suspiciously.
Police received two reports by two girls last month.
In the first incident, a 12-year-old girl reported seeing a man staring at her as she walked along Stafford Dr in Ruby Bay on May 28.
She called her mother using her cellphone and the van had gone by the time her mother arrived.
In the second incident, a young girl saw a man from a white van followed her on foot in Salisbury Rd in Richmond after school.
The girl walked up a driveway to get away from him on May 30.
On both occasions the man was described as being in his 40s with dark facial hair.
Nelson Bays child protection team detective sergeant Mark Kaveney said at this stage there was no evidence to suggest the two incidents were related.
However, police were keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed either of the incidents or has information.
Mr Kaveney said while there were recent reports via social media that there had been two or three attempted abductions of young girls in the area, these weren't accurate.
However, it was a good time to remind parents to talk to their children about their security and to report any incidents to police at the time.
The local school principals and police were working together to reduce any risks to the public.
If you have any information in relation to these events, please phone the Nelson Police on 03 545 9869 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
