Police are still searching for a man who shot at a house bus in the Coromandel yesterday afternoon.

The Armed Offenders Squad, police Eagle helicopter, dozens of police and the ambulance service responded to the domestic violence call at 2.10pm.

Cordons put in place on the Kopu-Hikuai Rd were lifted by 6pm.

A police spokewswoman this morning told the Herald the man had still not been found, but said police did not believe he posed a threat to the wider public.

A Kopu resident said at least 12 police cars had driven past her home yesterday, while a Hikuai resident said he'd gone to get his mail to find road blocks and police armed with rifles.

"There were a couple of cars and police with guns. It must be serious," he said.
Police told the man to go home and stay inside.
