It might not be the easiest thing to steal - but someone has succeeded in nicking off with a 1.8 tonne digger, and its trailer, from a Henderson home.

The pair of equipment was reported stolen from a house in Henderson on the evening Sunday May 1 - it hasn't been seen since.

Today Waitemata police have listed on its Facebook page a shot of the missing digger and trailer with the details of a tip-line.

"Have you seen this digger? And no it wasn't the one that crashed into a bridge in Auckland on Monday," police asked in the post.

Police said the digger and trailer were stolen between 8 and 10pm.

The digger was described as a yellow JCB 1.8 digger, with five buckets.

The trailer was purpose-built and crafted in Australia - making it the only one of its kind in the country.

If anyone has any information contact Henderson police on 09 839 0600.
