A trial date has been set for the Christchurch man accused of murdering his autistic step son.
Leon Jayet-Cole, 5, died in hospital days after suffering a serious head injury in May last year.
His mother's husband James Roberts is charged with his death.
Justice Cameron Mander confirmed today that the case will go to trial on October 31.
Roberts will reappear at the High Court in Christchurch on May 6 for a pre-trial hearing.
