A teenage girl is in serious condition after a two vehicle crash on the West Coast tonight.

St John Ambulance was called to the crash on the Lower Buller Gorge Rd section of State Highway 6, on the West Coast of the South Island, just before 6.30pm.

An ambulance, and two rescue helicopters - one from Nelson and one from Greymouth - attended the crash.

The teenage girl was flown to Nelson Hospital along with a teenage boy and a woman in her 40s who both had minor to moderate injuries.

Police and the Fire Service attended the crash.
