A man has been taken to hospital after getting his legs caught underneath a digger in Te Awamutu today.

Northern fire communications spokesman Colin Underdown said it was unclear if just one or both of the man's legs were caught by the digger, however local fire crews helped rescue the man and lift him into a waiting ambulance.

The incident occurred on a block of land off Cambridge Rd, about 200m from the town centre, about 12.10pm.
