Man who died in Hamilton crash named

The man who died in a crash north of Hamilton on Saturday has been named as Trevor Bland.

The 59-year-old from Hamilton was driving one of the cars that collided just before 5pm on Saturday at the Dawson and Lake Rd intersection.

Police released Mr Bland's name today.

The woman passenger travelling in the same car as Mr Bland was taken to Waikato Hospital in a stable condition.

Two of the three occupants in the other vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries, while the third person was uninjured.

Waikato police senior sergeant Pete van de Wetering said early reports were the car travelling along Dawson Rd failed to observe the give way sign and crashed into the vehicle travelling along Lake Rd.

Waikato Police have extended their condolences to Mr Bland's family and friends.
