A firefighter was injured after falling through a staircase in a burning Grey Lynn house early today.

The firefighter was taken to Auckland City Hospital after falling through internal stairs at a home in Farrar St.

A Fire Service spokesman said the house was gutted in the blaze, which broke out at 12.45pm.

Everyone inside the burning house escaped.

Three fire crews remained at the scene overnight.
