Firefighters are battling a large house fire on Roscommon Road, Manurewa.
A shed is also ablaze and a neighbouring house has received some damage also.
It is not yet known whether anyone was in the house at the time or whether anyone has been hurt in the blaze. Emergency services have been at the scene since about 4.30pm.
Auckland Transport released an alert saying Roscommon Road was now closed northbound, between Moncrieff Avenue and Browns Road.
Northern fire communications said they had received multiple calls to the blaze.
Shift manager Paul Radden said the house was well involved when firefighter arrived.
A total of three fire crews - two from Papatoetoe and one from Manurewa - were at the site.
Mr Radden said a neighbouring house received "exposure damage.'' Firefighters on the scene were quick to ensure the fire did not spread to the second property, he said.
