Two pedestrians hit by cars in Auckland

A man has been seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Mt Eden overnight.

A police spokesman said the accident happened on Dominion Rd at 1.30am when the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

The man was rushed to hospital in a serious condition but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating.

Another pedestrian is in hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Auckland's main street last night.

The accident happened at the intersection of Queen St and Mayoral Drive about 7pm.

A man suffered what were initially thought to be critical injuries and was taken to Auckland City Hospital.

Police say he is now in a moderate condition.
