Cambridge police are hunting three men who smashed their way into a store and stole a new Yamaha motorbike.

Police posted CCTV footage on their Facebook page this morning showing the bungled attempts to steal a bike from Blackwoods Yamaha on Albert St.

"Early this morning while most of you were sleeping, three young gents have smashed their way into Blackwoods Yamaha in town and stolen a motorbike," they wrote."

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the men and the vehicle they used.

"Also, if you know anyone who has recently come into possession of a 2016 Yamaha YZ450 and think they probably shouldn't have it, can you please get hold of us? These little thieves need to be caught!"

Anyone with information is asked to phone Cambridge police on 07 827 5531.
