Five people injured when the vehicle they were in collided with a police car in South Auckland yesterday have been discharged from hospital.

The crash occurred in Bombay, on Paparata Rd near the intersection with Barber Rd, about 7.15pm.

The police vehicle was travelling down Paparata Rd with its lights and sirens on at the time.

The five occupants of the civilian car, who were aged in their early 20s, suffered moderate to minor injuries and were taken to Middlemore Hospital, Otahuhu. A hospital spokeswoman said all five had since been discharged.

The officer or officers in the police car were not hurt.

The serious crash unit is investigating the collision and, as is standard practice for such incidents, it has been reported to the Independent Police Conduct Authority.
