A woman is believed to have fallen to her death from a central Auckland apartment building.
Police officers at the Eden Apartments were tight-lipped about the death, confirming only that an incident had occurred.
About six police cars were seen in the Eden Crescent area, as residents of the building tried to figure out what had happened.
An ambulance attended the incident -- reported as an "extreme fall" -- at 5.20pm.
A blue tarpaulin was set up beside the building, while police were seen inspecting a balcony on the fifth floor.
A bystander said he has witnessed an Asian woman who was "basically hysterical" waiting in an ambulance.
A woman who lived in the building said the victim was female. She did not know anything about the woman, but had seen her around the building.
"It's pretty shocking," the resident said.
A man and woman were seen hugging on the steps of the building.
A man from a neighbouring building said he had heard a woman arguing with someone in the building the day before.
