A three-way car crash is causing commuter chaos in Wellington tonight as drivers face a long trip home.
The pileup happened about 4pm on State Highway 2 in the northbound section of the road, near the Nguaranga interchange.
Police say a van towing a trailer collided with two cars, one of which flipped.
Senior Sergeant Steve Braybrook said the crash was cleared "pretty quickly".
"The traffic is flowing but very slow," he said.
Motorists were still facing significant delays.
Motorists heading to the Hutt Valley could take SH1 and SH58, but Mr Braybrook said they wouldn't be much quicker.
