Police believe the armed offender who shot a man in Lower Hutt and fled the scene was a deliberate attack and public were not at risk.
Police are still seeking a gunman who arrived at a house on Reynolds St, fired a shot, and left the address just after midnight yesterday.
The injured man was taken to Wellington Hospital, and was in a stable condition after undergoing surgery.
Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee said police believed this was a "targeted and deliberate attack" and public were not at risk.
There were several other occupants in the house during the incident, but no one else was injured, police said.
