The public has been urged to help find a man accused of a sexually-motivated attack on a woman.
The woman was indecently assaulted in Mt Victoria, Wellington, around 6pm on Saturday July 18, Wellington Police said.
The 23-year-old woman travelled to Courtenay Place just before 6pm on the Number 14 bus from Wilton, northwest of the city centre.
"She walked along Courtenay Place before crossing Cambridge and Kent Terraces onto Majoribanks St. Near the intersection of Majoribanks and Brougham St she was approached by a man who has followed her along Brougham Street for a short distance before indecently assaulting her," police said.
"After the assault the man has run off back towards Majoribanks St."
Detective Jon Harlen of the city's Criminal Investigation Branch said police were contacted immediately after the alleged assault and have reviewed CCTV footage from the area.
The wanted man was wearing a light-coloured hoodie underneath a dark jacket, police said. He also wore dark-coloured pants and black shoes with white soles.
The man was described as having dark-coloured skin and being in his early 20s. He had a skinny build and was about 170 cm tall (5'6") with short dark hair.
Anybody with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 04 381 2000, or anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
