Police are seeking the public's help to identify the body of a man found on a popular north Auckland Beach this morning.
A member of the public found the man - described as Asian and aged in his mid-20s - at Orewa beach about 7.30am.
He was located at the north end of the beach next to the cliffs, a police spokeswoman said.
She said the man did not have any identification on him, but was wearing black track pants with a white stripe down the side, a hooded sweatshirt and orange socks.

A section of the beach was closed as police investigated.
"Police Search and Rescue are attending the scene and will repel off the cliffs to do a search for any of the man's belongings," she said.
The Eagle helicopter with a police photographer on board has also been used.
"This is standard practice for an incident of this nature and the community should not be unnecessarily alarmed by this."
The death was being treated as unexplained until the man was identified and more was known about the circumstances of his death.
