A string of burglary-related arrests proves a timely reminder for those leaving home for the holidays to secure their property, police say.
Canterbury Police have charged three men following three rural burglaries which took place earlier this months in Lincoln, Rolleston and Kaiapoi.
With the holiday season now in full force and and many people heading away to spend time with friends and family, police said the burglaries proved a timely reminder for everyone to keep their homes secure and not to leave tools or ladders out that opportunistic burglars could use to gain access.
"If you are having a social gathering in your back garden make sure the doors and windows at the other side of your property are secure so that an opportunistic burglar cannot gain access.
"Report any suspicious behaviour to police straight away and note down, if you can, any useful information such as time, vehicle registrations, descriptions etc. If it's appropriate take a photo on your phone."
