Four injured in wrong-way collision in Dunedin

Four people have been injured in a collision on Dunedin's southern motorway, in which one of the vehicles may have been travelling in the wrong direction.

The two-vehicle head-on crash occurred near Green Island about 5.53pm today.

Initial indications were that immediately prior to the crash, one of the vehicles was travelling north in the southbound lane, police said.

Three people from one vehicle and one person from the other vehicle were taken to Dunedin Hospital.

The southbound lane of the Dunedin southern motorway near Green Island is currently closed. A short diversion is allowing southbound traffic to by pass the crash scene without delay.
